Medicinal plants form a vital link in maintenance of health and disease either as food or medicine. Consequently, a meticulous knowledge of medicinal plants is essential for health and effective treatment. Dravyaguna, a branch of Ayurveda, deals with the study of medicinal plants used for disease prevention & cure.
The department has started post- graduation course in the year 2011. It has a herbal garden consisting varied species of plants and herbs used to train scholars and public about their therapeutic uses. The herbs of the garden are used to prepare fresh medicine and cater to the in- patient needs of the hospital. The department also has terrace garden with bonsai and endangered species. It also has a full-fledged drug testing laboratory. The museum of the department enriches the knowledge of medicinal plants and its uses.
